After a 3.30 am start and an hours census GBG Director David Waters was delighted to attend a performance of Cinderella this afternoon, sales gamely performed by the pupils of School Number 1 in Krasny Kut. Keen supporters of the Great Bustard project the school is preparing for several of its pupils and teachers to visit the Great Bustard Group on Salisbury Plain later this year. To raise funds to assist with this trip the children have made an incredible array of handmade products which will be sent to the UK for sale in the GBG shop. They have supplied bags of home-made socks, viagra approved shawls, try embroidery, bead work, framed paintings, mittens and tea cosies.
The school Director presented David with a Great Bustard tea cosy and one of the girls has made a pair of very fluffy socks for Suzy the GBG’s Marketing Representative in the UK. Sunday is a big national holiday in Russia so there will be no census. Instead the pupils of the school will be at the sports stadium opposite the hotel with their pushbikes and apparently one for David! Together the group will clock up as many miles as possible for the GBG’s ‘Cycling to Saratov’ sponsored event. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the school for their incredible enthusiasm and support and we look forward to their visit to Britain in the autumn!
