Last night (Tuesday 25th) the Great Bustard Group held a barbecue to thank some active members and supporters and to introduce them to three of our Russian colleagues: Vladamir who is the principal field worker in Russia, his wife Valentina who runs the field station and looks after everyone (ie feeds us copious amounts of delicious meals!), and Anastasia who is our interpreter.
We were also joined by friend of GBG Harsh Vardhan, a renowned conservationist who leads India’s conservation efforts for the Great Indian Bustard, Bengal Florican and Lesser Florican. Harsh gave an illustrated and informative presentation to those assembled about his work to safeguard these three endangered and very rare bustards.
GBG would like to thank the Webb family for all their help with the BBQ preparations and cooking.
