Dame Elizabeth Neville visits the GBG

Posted on Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

The GBG was delighted to welcome a visit by Dame Elizabeth Neville, recently appointed High Sheriff of Wiltshire (who for the first time in the history of the post has added bustard feathers to her shrival hat), to our release-site yesterday. Dame Elizabeth has been a supporter of the GBG for some years, and was obviously thrilled to be shown some of our birds from our (relatively luxurious) new hide! Taken on a mini-safari by Karen Waters and Al Dawes, Dame Elizabeth was also shown Stone-curlews and a selection of the special birds that live on the grasslands in this part of Salisbury Plain.

We’re happy to report that the visit went extremely well, and it’s extremely gratifying that the new High Sheriff should be have come to the project so early in what is an extremely busy tenure.
