Time, gentlemen, please…

The ‘Friends of the Bustard’ held their regular meeting at The Bustard Inn at Rollestone last night, and – I hope – all who attended enjoyed some lively discussion and interesting conversation.

On a rather wistful note, though, the Inn’s landlord, Roy Harris, announced that the historic and grand old building that has hosted our meetings over the years has been sold. Roy has been a fantastic and ever-friendly host, and it is with genuine fondness that we wish him and his partner Sharon all the very best in whatever their next venture will be (though as Roy himself says after many years of hard work he may just put his feet up for a while – and deservedly so).

What this means for our meetings is yet to be decided. It may be that the new owners of The Bustard Inn will be just as welcoming as Roy has been, but we already have offers from a nearby hostelry if that invitation is not forthcoming. We will of course let all members of the GBG and the Friends of the Bustard know as soon we have fixed a venue – and we’ll be doing our best to let Roy know too, as he has promised to join the GBG and we intend to make him keep his word!
