Life Members and Fellows Day
Saturday 9th October

The day looked like it would be a good one, with a good weather forecast. Unfortunately the weather did not perform and was overcast, grey and windy all day. Thankfully the birds knew they had to put on a show and performed well.

The guests were updated on events of the past year with a power point presentation including the extremes of weather we have had out on the Plain, the new hide, porta cabin, our Russian, Ukranian, German and Chinese visitors, and of course this year’s release.

Unfortunately one of our guests had to leave early as they had another engagement to attend, but the rest were taken to the hide where they saw Pink 6 (male) flying, always a spectacular sight and thirteen other birds including older birds from previous years releases. The most exciting being O15 our female from 2004 that came back to the site this week having not been seen since July.

After a ‘warm up’ in the caravan, helped along with tea, coffee, biscuits and cake, our guests went home happy, all looking forward to another visit.
