Josephine Sumner, a wildlife artist and member of the Great Bustard Group, has a linocut print of a Great Bustard accepted for the prestigious Society of Wildlife Artists’ annual exhibition in London, which opens on the 27th October at the Mall Galleries. The show is called “The Natural Eye” and is being opened by BBC’s Mark Cawardine (Last Chance to See).

Josephine is a professional printmaker, artist and designer and live in Devizes. Both she and her husband and are members of the Great Bustard Group.

Josephine says, “I have been meaning to do a print of a bustard for quite a while, and we finally managed to see the birds out on the Plain in April followed by the Hawk Conservancy to meet Fergus. Eventually I settled on depicting a male bustard during lekking, with feathers splayed out and twirled over- a bit of a challenge!

The linocut print, a limited edition of only 30, is entitled “Great Bustard unfurled”.
