Bustard Brunches off to a fine start

Posted on Sunday, May 6th, 2012

The Hawk Conservancy Trust in Andover is home to the only Great Bustard aviary in Europe, and today the Great Bustard Group began a Summer of ‘Bustard Brunches’, a rare chance to see bustards enjoying a snack, and having some fun with their keepers in the process! Brave Charles Hibberd fed the eager birds a selection of their favourite treats, while Mandy Grinter gave a fascinating talk to the crowds.

The bothy was open for visitors to find out even more about the birds and the historic project that is bringing them back to Britain for the first time in almost 200 years. Bustard Brunches will take place on Sunday afternoons at 3.10pm during May, then dates and times will be posted on the Great Bustard Group website.
