It’s hotting up at the release-site

Posted on Monday, April 19th, 2010

On Sunday, 18th April, Red 28 (a female) was back at the release-site. She hasn’t been seen here since she left after release in 2008. This morning, Yellow 22 (another female) was at the site for the first time in a year or so. Yellow 07 was displaying, ’til he was fit to burst, to Y22, Y18, Green 06, R28 and Blue 03.

This is superb news and demonstrates that the area in and around the release-site is now treated by our (relatively immature) bustards as a lekking site, and that social grouping is taking place here as was always hoped.
