Yesterday evening (10th Dec) also saw some other visitors to the Bustard Project, and I was able to host Great Bustard Consortium partner Prof Tamas Szekely (left) who was in turn hosting Dr Zsolt Vegvari (right). Zsolt is the Scientific Advisor at Hungarian flagship Hortobagy National Park and is also the head of the Conservation Biology Dept of Debrecen University. Zsolt is a very experienced and active Great Bustard researcher and conservationist. As well as making some very complementary comments about the UK project he was also amazed that the project is not properly supported by the UK Government and is run by an independent charity.
We were joined by a PhD student from Bath University, Natalie dos Remedios (centre).
After a trip around the release site, we headed to the Hawk Conservancy Trust to see the public display centre there and the Great Bustard Aviary.
The visitors are photographed in front of the centre known to us as the Bustard Bothy.
