The GBG Sponsor a Seat Campaign offers individuals, families, and organisations the chance to celebrate a special person while supporting the Great Bustard. A small donation secures you a plaque on a seat in our newly restored hide.
The hide is raised and provides an elevated view looking out across the Lucerne fields used for lekking as well as nesting. There have been some spectacular sightings of males displaying along with other species such as Hen Harriers, Hobbies and Stone Curlews.
A team of volunteers have successfully converted the trailer, giving it a new lease of life. Works have included adding viewing flaps, painting the exterior and installing some very comfy seats!
Plaques so far have been Barbara Fergusson, one of the stalwarts of the Great Bustard Trust. Barbara was a pioneer and even attempted to breed Great Bustards in captivity in Wiltshire back in the 1970s.
Another plaque was donated by the family of Dirk Perry, a huge lover of the Great Bustard and supporter of the charity.
We ask for a donation of at least £100 to sponsor a seat in the hide. All proceeds are used to support the Great Bustard Group and the ongoing conservation of this magnificent bird.
As well as a beautiful plaque, you will receive a free visit to the site where you will be able to come and see the birds and see your newly mounted name plaque.
