Last night was the first round of Enterprise Inn’s Pub Team Challenge at the Bustard Inn. As the reigning champions we couldn’t go out in the first round!

There were only 16 people at the quiz but we made sure it sounded like more. We were low on numbers as Dave is in Russia for the spring census, stuff Al is in Russia too, more about but only because that was as far as he got from China before planes were grounded and some of the other regulars were stuck in Prague. This added to the fact that Lewis and Lyndsay Cowen’s team mates who usually come along to bolster the side, cheapest were at a quiz somewhere else. The Bustard was against The Bell at Winterbourne Stoke who are newcomers to the quiz.

After two and a half hours of quizzing with the lead swinging from one team to the other – and with a few disputes in between – the score ended The Bell 865 points, The Bustard 985 points which puts the pub in fourth place on the leader board.

We’re not out of the woods yet as there are another 11 weeks of first round competition before we find out if we are through to the next round.

Fingers crossed.
