The size of Great Indian Bustard Sanctuary ( Maharashtra, this web India) has bee reduced to 1222 Sq. Km from Original 8, price 500 Sq.Km. This Largest Sanctuary of India Has been rationalized because of its huge irrational size where 97 percent land is private land. Denotification of 7278 Sq. Km. area is the largest denotification in the history of India.
Denotified area includes Solapur city, small towns, villages, Airport, all transport related infrastructure, Industries, Private lands, Farmlands, irrigation facilities. All these areas are of no use to GIB. This decision will reduce the unnecessary hardship to Local people and will gather support for conservation. Bustard conservation is impossible without involving of local community. We have already started our efforts to bring the local community in conservation picture this decision will boost up the efforts.
