The GBG goes to Chew Valley

Posted on Sunday, April 25th, 2010

GBG Release-site Manager Al Dawes and Otis Editor Charlie Moores went to Somerset’s Chew Valley Lake on Saturday (April 24th) as part of our ongoing efforts to take the GBG to as wide an audience as possible. Lakeside Optics (part of the London Camera Exchange group) very kindly supplied us with a position to set up ‘our stall’, and Al and I spent a very pleasant few hours talking with optical suppliers and members of the public, whilst being serenaded by a recently-arrived Reed Warbler which had set up territory in a patch of thick shrubbery just yards away.

Our pitch was right next to the Bristol Ornithological Club, close to the Hawk and Owl Trust, and surrounded by tables of binoculars and telescopes from the likes of Zeiss, Swarovski, and Opticron – in other words we were in our element! We will now be following up on the contacts we made and working on tying-up possible sponsorships we discussed.
