Hundreds of nature detectives came along to the free Springwatch Wild Day Out nature festival at Alexandra Palace in London today. Children and adults alike took up the BBC’s Bioblitz challenge to see how many creepy crawlies, approved bird species and bugs they could find in the park.
GBG joined forces with the BBC Wildlife Fund at the event to chat to visitors about the fund, more about and how it helped at GBG’s Wiltshire site. Families were out in force and a steady stream of visitors delighted in the craft activities on offer – and the abundance of BBC goodie bags!
The event was one of many taking place across the country this month to encourage everyone to take a fresh look at the natural world and to help save our wildlife. From badgers to bustards, every British beast was celebrated and interest in both the BBCWF’s young, vibrant charity and the bustards they supported.
