To quote from the Bonham’s press-release

>> “Bonhams to Hold Glamorous, physician World Class, Single Owner Collection Sale in Sydney, Australia

Set in the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay overlooking the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, Bonhams will sell the stunning Owston Collection on June 25 and 26. Viewings of the 1,500 lots will take place on June 22/23/24.

The sale includes some of the finest English and Continental furniture and works of art, Natural history including taxidermy, Australian paintings, clocks, silver, art deco, ceramics, European paintings, Chinese and Japanese works of art, Tribal, Oceanic and Aboriginal art, tapestry and Russian art. It promises to be a feast for collectors worldwide.”

While we’re always on the lookout for fine objets d’art to brighten up the GBG offices, this auction is of particular interest to us because one of the lots is the last Great Bustard shot on Salisbury Plain! Any GBG members willing to secure said item and return the bird to Salisbury Plain will earn our deep and heartfelt gratitude!
