On Saturday we set about making a mud free access to the new cabin. Al Dawes, stuff release-site manager, had secured some railway sleepers for the job and they needed bedding in place.

Len Tryhorn, Charles Hibberd, Al and I undertook this and were delighted to see a coupe of Great Bustards watching us from the other side of the valley – just checking it was all done properly.

The GBG regularly has work parties of volunteers to help the project, and is reliant on volunteers for al manner of tasks. These can be anything from manual labour, to observing the birds, to helping at shows and fairs to packing Otis into envelopes.
