The Great Bustard Group shop has been redecorated and revitalised by a group of volunteers. Fresh paint, new floors and display areas have created a stylish visitor space – and we’re packing it full of exciting new products.
The shop layout has changed to incorporate a small museum area. Visitors can learn more about the GBG and our history. On display are several stuffed Great Bustards and cabinets containing a variety of Great Bustard items, including wing tags, leg rings, bones and feathers.
We’re developing a series of display boards providing more information about the project for visitors to read.
To complement the redesigned space, the team have sourced an exciting new range of items to sell. Many of these are produced by local artisans and craftspeople.
Shoppers can buy a large variety of new cards produced by a local photographer, Laura Miller. Hurstbourne Forge in Andover is hand-producing a range of metal items using the Great Bustard Group logo. These include garden stakes, wall art and trivets, all cast from their forge.
Paul Herrieven, the owner of UK Birding Pins, has produced a Flying Great Bustard pin badge and is currently designing several more pin badges for us. He has also produced a range of T-shirts, mugs, and shopping bags, all wearing the Flying Great Bustard.
The GBG clothing range produced by Galileo Clothing in Devizes is expanding, with new gilets and long-sleeved polo shirts added to the range.
We have also started stocking locally made book sleeves, kindle sleeves, cushions and phone cushions, some made from bustard-themed fabric.
We’re continuing to add new items to our shop. Everything can be purchased online or in person at the Famous Bustard shop.
